Divide the width of the flying geese (unfinished) by 2 to get the half-width measurement.

Align the 45 degree line with the seam so that the point of the triangle is on the half-width mark.

Turn the block and align the ruler with the side you trimmed in step 2. Trim 1/4" from the point.
