String Beans- German Style

Cook 1/3 cup navy beans until soft but not mushy. Set aside. Keep the water you cooked them in.

French cut or cut the String beans into 1 inch pieces. Blanch and set aside.

Cook 1/2 lb.bacon. If you don’t eat bacon replace 1/4 cup of imitation bacon bits. Fry until crispy.

Cook 1 large onion diced (225g) in a little bacon fat or vegetable oil until translucent.

Add 3tbsp.all-purpose flour,1 cup cooked navy beans & 1/4 cup white vinegar. Stir constantly.

Add 1 lb. String beans (450g). Add enough water from the cooked navy beans to make a sauce.

Add 1/2 lb. bacon fried. Salt & pepper to taste. Stir to evenly distribute the mixture.
