Gather your supplies.
1
Paint some pumpkins. Use different shapes and colors. Like green swan gourds ...
2
red-orange cinderella pumpkins ...
3
brown-orange pie pumpkins, green-white gourds ...
4
and a couple of gray pumpkins. It's okay if the colors bleed into each other a little.
5
Now for some pumpkin drawings. Here are some ideas.
6
Use a pencil to sketch pumpkins over the watercolor background. Try not to match the edges.
7
Make some straight lines for a fall saying (this guide by Inkfurie works really well).
Sketch "Fall is here" and a few other fall words in the sky.
8
Use sumi ink for the fall words. (You'll see why later.)
9
Use Ziller soot black ink and a calligraphy pen (or a micron pen alone) for "Fall is here" ...
10
and the pumpkin sketches. Ziller ink doesn't bleed as much as sumi ink on top of watercolor.
11
Overlap the pumpkins so some are in front and some behind.
12
Brush water over the words with sumi ink. Though they feel dry, sumi ink smudges into a stormy sky.
13
And you're finished! Enjoy the fall feels.
