What you’ll need
1/4" Copper Tape
Soldering iron And Stand
Same Colored LED’s (5mm)
3v Coin Cell Batteries (CR2032)
Set up your station! Plug in your soldering iron (set to high), layer 2 boards, make 2 copper rails
Label one rail positive (+) and the other rail negative (-)
Fold over a piece of copper tape to attach coin cell battery and make a switch.
Melt some solder onto both rails to create 2 solder pads. This is where you will attach your LEDs
Slide the solder under the Soldering iron to make your solder pads
Bend the longer leg of your LED to indicate the (+) side, then bend both legs outwards.
Place the LED legs onto the solder pads on the corresponding copper tape rails.
Solder the LED to the copper tape by holding the soldering iron against the LED leg and solder pad.
The solder will turn shiny when it is melted. Remove the iron and let the solder cool.
Test your connection by placing the copper tape switch on the battery to see if the LED lights up
Practice! Repeat using multiple LEDs on the same copper tape rail.
