Use the wire cutter to cut blocks of clay.
1
Cut enough blocks for every student to have one. Add 4 extra blocks and one for demonstration.
2
Form each block into a ball.
3
Put the balls of clay in plastic bags until time to use them.
4
Students will need a ball of clay and a couple of wooden tools to work with.
5
Using the large wooden tool, cut the ball of clay in half.
6
Form each piece of clay into a ball.
7
Create a punch pot out of each ball of clay. Keep the bottom round.
8
Turn each pinch pot over and carefully smooth the form while keeping it rounded.
9
Use a toothpick to score the top edge of each pinch pot. Use a brush to add slip to the edges.
10
Carefully, press the two pinch pots together with the scored edges touching.
11
Use a wooden tool and/or your fingers to smooth the seam where the two pots meet.
12
You now have a hollow clay ball that you can use to create something three dimensional out of clay.
13
Use tools to begin to shape the hollow ball of clay into something.
14
You can also add details by adding on clay. Remember to score, slip, and smooth.
