To create the base of the light I used the Carvey by Inventables to carve out the shape
1
Use a knife to clean up tabs leftover from holding down the material
2
Sand pieces on a really flat surface
3
Take 1/4” dowel and measure and cut to fit inside the cavity
4
You can use any type of string lights
5
The stitch to use is a half double crochet
6
Loop over loose string, insert hook into next loop & grab on the loose string & pull over 1st loop
7
Loop your hook over the loose string again and pull through all 3 loops
8
Thread your 1/4” dowel into the light and put it into the cavity
9
Make sure the wire is sitting in the longer cavity. You can turn the string lights vertically
10
pre-drill holes into the dowels carefully before drilling screws all the way-they are pretty fragile
11
Still it is important to pre drill
12
Once light fixture is in place, glue the pieces together and clamp them in place
13
Once the individual pieces dry, glue in the middle block to finish off the structure
14
Use your orbital sander to sand the finish product. You can also hand sand
15
Apply a couple coats of wax to give it a nice finish
