What you’ll need
Chicken - whole
Beer can Chicken Pan
Your Favorite BBQ Rub
A few tablespoons
Fresh herbs: Thyme, Oregano, Parsley
A Tasty Beer
Remove the bird from the packaging and thoroughly pat dry with paper towels.
Sprinkle the chicken with your favorite BBQ rub, both outside and inside the cavity.
Rub the seasoning into the skin.
If you have a beer can pan like this one, fill the container with a tasty beer.
If you don’t have this pan, use a can opener to remove the top of your can. Add herbs to the beer.
Put the chicken over the beer can. Without a pan, the chicken legs will act as two legs of a tripod.
Pin back the wings.
Insert temperature probes. One into the thickest part of the breast and the other into the thigh.
Place in the oven with a drip pan under the chicken. If not using a pan, take care to stabilize it.
Cook at 375 (conventional) or 350 (convect) until you reach an internal temp of 170 (approx 90 min).
Remove from oven and let rest (do not remove probes) for 10-15 minutes. Carve and serve.
