Cut your fabric. Desired width + 1.25" by desired height x 2 + 5".
1
Fold up WRONG sides together and mark 2.5" down on left and right sides.
2
Stitch 1/4" seams to this line.
3
Trim corners to reduce bulk. Turn out bag. Now the RIGHT sides are together.
4
Press seams and stitch the sides again, this time using a 3/8" seam. Stop at 2.5" marker.
5
Finished French seams! Turn bag right side out.
6
Hem raw edges on the sides of the bag. Turn over roughly 1/4" and 1/4" again.
8
Stitch these edges.
9
Finished side seams.
10
Top edges: fold down 1/4" and 1/4" again. Press. You can stitch this down or wait until next step.
11
Fold top edges down in half (meeting that original 2.5" mark you made in the beginning). Stitch.
12
Stitch to create the casing for the drawstrings.
13
Grab a drawstring. Shown: 1/2" wide double fold bias tape (or use other preferred drawstring).
14
Use a safety pin to thread through both sides of bag. Leave extra 2.5" on each side and tie.
15
Repeat for second drawstring.
