What you’ll need
Clothing Item and Loose Button
Straight Pin or Toothpick
Seam ripper (optional)
Trim the old threads from the garment with a seam ripper or scissors
Use the holes for your new stitches
Cut a piece of thread about 18-24 inches long and thread your needle
Tie an overhand knot. Repeat for a double knot.
Sew up through one hole, then the button, back down through next button hole and through the fabric.
Use a straight pin or toothpick in the first set of loops to keep your stitches from being too tight
Repeat the stitches 6-8 times in each set of holes. Don’t worry if the back is a little messy.
Tie a double knot by sewing under a few stitches, looping thread around needle, and pulling tight.
Check the fit of the button in the button hole. Congratulations!
