How toMake a Secret Compartment in a Book!
18 steps
Hello!
What you’ll need
1
A thick, hard-cover book
1
White glue
Not much :)
Water
1
X-ACTO Knife
1
Clip
1
Pencil
1
Thick Paper (I used old wrapping paper!)
1
Paintbrush
1
A small bowl
Something heavy (I’m using a pot)
Clip the book’s first 20 pages (or so) to its front cover.
1
Mix 7 parts glue with 3 parts water in a small bowl. Feel free to eye it!
2
Paint the back of the very last page in the book with the glue/water mixture.
3
Paint the outside pages of the book-minus the clipped ones-on all sides. Wipe up any spilled glue :)
4
Remove the clip and add a thick piece of paper between your sections.
5
Put something heavy on top of your book and let it dry for about 20 minutes.
6
Wash your paintbrush with a little bit of soap and water so that the bristles don’t harden.
7
Once it’s all dry, open the book to the first glued page and draw the shape you’d like to cut.
8
Use an X-Acto knife and a straight edge to cut out all the pages until have a nice, deep pocket.
9
Progress! Just a bit more to do...
10
Once you’ve carved out enough pages, paint the inside edges of the compartment.
11
12
And the outside portion again...
13
As well as the top page of your glued portion!
14
Now, put something heavy on the book until the glue is completely dry.
15
Once it had hardened, open the book to the compartment-there will be one page covering it.
16
Feel/see the compartment beneath this final page. Cut carefully to access the compartment.
17
Make sure it works... and ta-da! Reward yourself. Have a drink and some ice cream.

Thanks!
