Gather a few components.
Apply hot glue to the tip of the rope and wind into a tight circle, continuing to apply more glue.
Decide on the finished width. Mine is 15” wide.
Start gluing so that the rope stacks on itself and you will gain height.
Keep going! :)
When you run out of the 1st rope, join the 2nd one by butting the two and hot gluing.
At 12” high, you’re ready for your leather straps (optional). Can use an old belt if you’d like.
Cut (2) 17” leather straps.
Punch a hole at each end at the 1/2” mark and the 3 3/4” mark.
Glue 1 end of the 1st strap midway btwn the holes on the end & 4” over glue the other end the same.
Repeat this with the 2nd strap directly across from the 1st strap.
Continue glueing rope around the basket for 2 more layers on top of the straps. Then leave 2” free.
Tuck and glue on the inside of the basket.
Apply rubber cement to the inside of the leather at the holes.
Press leather together over the rope lining up the holes and push in the rivers. Hammer closed. ✅
Problem solved! 😁
