How To Embroider A French Knot

Fabric
Embroidery Needle
Embroidery Thread
Embroidery Hoop
Water Soluble Pencil
Draw your design, with a water soluble pencil, on the fabric and place it into the hoop

Thread the needle and make a knot at one end

Bring the thread up from the back, pinch about 2” away from the fabric and hold the thread taught

Place the needle in front of the thread and wrap once around the needle

Wrap around the needle a second time

Re-insert the needle directly next to where the thread came from

Insert the top of your needle into the fabric and slide the wraps down and pull the thread taught

Pull the needle through the fabric to complete your first French knot!

Now that you have made your first knot you can continue with your design

Remove fabric from hoop + run under warm water to dissolve the pencil marks. Let dry and enjoy!
