Lightly sketch in a few details.

Add a thick coat of acrylic white to the rocks in the foreground.

Use a putty knife or various tools to suggest the rhythm of the rock forms.

Paint some horizontal lines with heavy acrylic to suggest the distant ocean.

Let the painting dry overnight.

Saturate the entire paper with water.

Create a fused wash in the sky and all the way down into the water.

Add more blue for the sky.

lay your painting on a flat surface.

pull out some of the drippings to get the effect you want.

Paint an island in the distance.

Add a little bit of blue to create some more depth in the island.

Add horizontal lines in the water.

Begin to add browns or reds to the rocks.

Continue adding more and more browns and reds.

Add darker watercolor values and begin to form the rocks.

Use a smaller brush with lots of pigment.

Begin to add details by using a small brush and scrambling in some darker Hues.

Use a tool to scrape into the wet paint.

Cover the top portion and splatter over the top of the rocks.

Splatter and scrumbling creates realism!
