Ferns!
Today we are going to learn to care for ferns. Ferns like bright filtered light and moist soil.
1
This is a Birds Nest Fern. The dish is attached to the pot so we are going to water this in the sink
2
Leaves that are faded in color mean it badly needs to be watered! (Try to avoid this from happening)
3
Fully soak the root ball and let drain. Do this 2-3 times.
4
After watering, tip pot to drain excess water before putting plant back in its favorite spot.
5
This is a few hours after being watered, its leaves are much brighter and happier!
6
This is a Staghorn Fern. It’s in a pot bc its young. Normally they grow attached to trees!
7
Leaves are referred to as fronds and there are 2 types. The round ones at the base are “shields”
8
Shields protect the roots! When watering, fill up to the brim 2-3 times to really get the roots wet.
9
Staghorns like to be watered once a week. If its a long hot week, they’ll love a misting in the AM
10
This is a Lemon Button Fern, it likes to be watered once a week.
11
It likes the soil moist but never soggy! The soil should never be bone dry.
12
The leaves are pretty dense so I’m going around the leaves to get all of the soil wet. Do this twice
13
This pot has the dish attached too, so you could also water this in the sink.
14
Ferns require a little bit more care, but are wonderful additions to plant lovers homes! 🌿🌿🌿

Pro tip: Winter = less watering (every 8-10 days). Warmer months = water 1x/week & mist on hot days
