Heels together toes apart. This is First Position. The action of the knees bending is called a pilé

Arms will always have a slight bend but careful not to bend them too much or let the elbows droop.

Demi Plié: a small bend in the knees. Notice the diamond shape the legs create as the knees bend.

Grand Plié: big bend going as low possible with control and your torso upright. Knees point sideways

2nd position: practice Demi Plié and Grand Plié in this foot position. Feet slightly wider than hips
