Before. Cedar chest in need of a update.
Examine for damages. Use Mud if needed to repair. Remove hardware.
Clean inside and out with White Lightning.
Original key was hidden inside.
Use Mud to fill old hardware holes. Over fill. Then sand back when dry.
Choose your decorative wood mouldings to accent the front.
WoodUbend mouldings can be painted and stained. They are a great way to accent a flat front.
Heat the moulding with a hair dryer or heat gun. Apply with wood glue. Place and heat again to form.
Use tape to help hold to a vertical surface. When dry you are ready for paint!
Gel stain in Espresso was used for the top. No sanding necessary. Apply with a cloth.
Wipe on in the direction of the wood grain. Small areas were sanded where scratches existed.
So much richer and darker. And so easy!
Sand the Mud to flat with sand paper. The holes disappeared.
The plan for this piece is a neutral blend. Spanish Moss, Sawmill Gravy and Coffee Bean.
The middle will be painted in Sawmill Gravy. The edges with Spanish Moss. First coat down for a base
Spanish Moss on the edges. Initial coats are not blended.
When first coats are dry use separate brushes to blend together. Use a misting bottle with water.
Coffee Bean to darker detail and edges. This will be blended together.
Using separate brushes and the misting bottle. Blend the colors to a seamless finish.
Gator hide was used to seal the gel stain and provide a durable finish.
Distress edges. This adds detail and age.
Best Dang Wax in clear was applied to the painted base.
Best Dang wax in Black was applied to the edges and wiped back. This adds depth to the corners.
See the depth in the wax? The added detail from WoodUbend mouldings make this shine!
