Thrift store find! Let’s make it farmhouse fabulous!
1
First things first. Prep your piece. This means clean with with white lightning. And fill holes.
2
After filling holes with Dixie Belle Mud you are ready to paint!
3
Drop Cloth is a fabulous neutral. I use a flat medium brush and cover the entire wood surface.
4
When your Mud dries sand back to flat and paint right over!
5
Spray paint the hardware to a updated black.
6
Let’s add a faux barn wood style top. Measure the top and head to the store. Let find some lumber.
7
After measuring (again) cut your lumber to size. I like a small overhang of about 1.5 inches.
8
Use a chop saw to cut the lumber to size. These planks will be the new top!
9
Sand the edges smooth. Sides too! We want a worn rustic feel.
10
I also want to age the top. I hammered and aged the top. This will make it look like old wood.
11
Stain the top and sides of the planks. I used Ebony and Walnut.
12
Look how pretty this is!
13
Let’s screw down the top planks. I use black screws. And attach from the top.
14
After pre drilling holes I attached the planks to the dresser top.
15
Black screws and a wood grain top looks like barnwood!
16
After painting your second coat of paint and adding some dry brush in Burlap I sanded to age.
17
I added Best Dang wax in Brown. Applied with a brush and wiped back.
18
I sealed the base with Best Dang Wax in Clear.
19
I sealed the top with a Clear Coat. Two coats for protection.
20
Look at the farmhouse beauty!
