Fly to Yangon (the capital) and transfer to an Air KZB plane for the hour flight to Heho airport.
Take an hour taxi from Heho Airport to Inle Lake. You can get taxis outside the airport.
Stay at the Inle Princess if you’re up for a high-end option. The rooms and grounds are beautiful.
Take a traditional long boat out on the lake at sunset.
Yes, the boat is propelled by a man who rows using his leg.
There are thousands of people who live and work in houses on the 45 square mile lake.
Inle is the “breadbasket” of Myanmar. The lake is used for hydroponic farming.
Wake up a beautiful sunrise (and balloon) over the lake.
The next morning, hire a traditional motor boat and guide. Take a tour around the lake.
You will not be the only one arriving at the “five day” market by boat.
Check out and taste the local food. Markets are one of my favorite things to visit while traveling.
Different villages on the lake do different crafts. Stop by each one and learn.
Swing by the biggest and most famous temple on the lake.
When you get back, bike into the hills for wine tasting. The view is much much better than the wine.
The next morning, pack you bags and head to the airport to fly to Bagan.
