Pattern Paper
Using a pair of pants that fit, fold in half, lining up the sides.

Start to trace around the pants, making a pattern. Add 1” at top for waistband and 1/2” on sides

Cut out pattern piece.

Place pattern piece on the fold of your fabric and cut 2 out.

Open up both pieces and lay right sides together. Pin the crotch seam together (curved edge)

Sew both sides of the crotch seam (the curved edge)

Open up pants, matching up the sewn crotch seams. Pin the inseams.

Sew the inseam

Take 1” elastic and measure around child’s waist to get the perfect fit.

Divide pants into 4 equal sections.

Divide the elastic into 4 equal sections.

Line up marked sections of fabric and elastic, pin in place.

Switch machine to a wide zig zag stitch

Sew elastic to pants, stretching elastic to fit, as you sew.

Fold elastic down to encase in pants. Stitch in place, stretching as you sew.

Fold both hems of pants up 1” and sew in place with a straight stitch.

Iron good, and you are all finished with the pants!!
