What you’ll need
Get the tail end of your yarn
Drape the yarn over your three fingers and hold it to your ring finger using your thumb
Wrap the working end of your yarn around the backs of your fingers
Make an X. Tuck the yarn between your pinky and ring fingers.
You have an X on the front of your fingers and 2 parallel lines on the back
Put your crochet hook under the first strand and over the second
Pull the second strand under the first. Turn it clockwise and pull up a little.
Put the hook back under that second strand
Pull that second strand through the loop that’s on your hook
Gently slide your hand out of the magic ring
Point the tail end toward the left
De-tangle the tail end from the magic ring
Chain up to start your first row (round)
Do your first round into the magic ring. Go around both the strands.
Hold the ring taut with your ring finger while you crochet into it.
Hold your last stitch and pull the tail end to tighten the ring
Slip stitch into your starting chain to end the first round.
