Make Your Own Paper
A note to add to orders!
Cut up your paper into small pieces. We’re reusing a bag from a local bakery (support local, y’all!)
Add your paper to warm water. Let it sit and absorb.
We used an embroidery hoop with some mesh screening. Cut away the extra screen.
Now that your paper is soaked, blend it to a fine pulp.
Dip your hoop to catch some slurry. Remove the excess and tap it straight down to release water.
Turn it out onto absorbent felt or cotton (or both) and roll it to push out more water.
To add color, let paper confetti soak and catch it with your screen. Careful-some colors will bleed.
Or add it to your wet screen. Make sure it can soak in the water to adhere fully.
If it is too delicate or not rounded well, just add it back to the slurry and stir.
Keep going to make more paper!
Let your paper dry overnight. Ours is on wax paper to make sure it doesn’t stick to the shelf.
You can use your paper just like this or iron it between a cotton towel to make sure it is flat.
Use stamps or markers to decorate your paper.
