Harvest & Dry Popweed
Find a good beach with with lots of rocks & seaweed away from a large human population.
You’ll need scissors & a bucket or container.
Find a rock with a lot of popweed.

FIRST: Thank the rock & seaweed for sharing the harvest! Gunalcheesh!
Cut only the small new growth.
Gently cut the seaweed beneath, or a couple inches, from the tips. Don’t pull the holdfast off!
Move to another rock & harvest more. Only cut a half-dozen bunches from each rock.
Harvest with Friends & Elders!
At home: Cut seaweed tips from fronds. Leave a bit of stem if you want.
You can eat fresh popweed tips too & add to recipes!
Set aside remaining seaweed stems for garden mulch or dry for grinding into tea powder.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees & lightly oil cookie sheet or use parchment paper.
Spread seaweed on lightly oiled pan.
Put in a preheated oven at 300 degrees.
Fun FYI: Popweed turns BRIGHT green when heated before it dries out!
Every 20 minutes check for dryness & rotate racks if necessary.
After 45 minutes take it out & check for dryness & crunch! Done!
Dried Popweed is the best snack! Healthy!
